SCO RATS holds its session in Uzbek capital
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The twenties session of the Council of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO RATS) was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on 27 March 2012.

Member-states of the SCO attended the meeting. The members of the SCO are Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

At the session, it was decided to coordinate interaction of competent bodies of the SCO member states, taking into account possible terrorism, separatism and extremism acts in the territory of the organization.

The sides decided to create a group of experts of border services of the SCO member states to fight terrorism, separatism and extremism.

The plan on joint measures of competitive bodies of the SCO member states on reveling and preventing channels of financing of terrorism, separatism and extremism activities from illegal turnover of narcotics, psychotropic means and their precursors.

Based on existing practice on realization of joint measures on ensuring security of large international events, the sides approved regular mechanism on coordination of interaction of the competent bodies of the SCO on ensuring security of the large international events, hosted in the member states of the organization.

The SCO member states considered issues of coordinating interaction in information security and agreed joint measures of competent bodies of the SCO member states on preventing and suppressing use of computer networks for terrorism, separatism and extremism purpose.

At the session, the draft report of the council of the SCO RATS to the Council of heads of states of the SCO on work of the SCO RATS in 2011 was approved. The SCO RATS chief Mr. Djumanbekov presented reported a programme of cooperation of the SCO member states in fighting terrorism, separatism and extremism for 2010-2012. The sides approved a draft programme of cooperation of the SCO member states in fighting terrorism, separatism and extremism for 2013-2015.

The activities of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS in 2011 were assessed positively.

The Council approved candidacy of China’s Chjan Xinfen to the post of director of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS from 1 January 2013 and recommended to consider this proposal by the Council of the heads of states of the SCO.

The Council also adopted several organizational, personnel and financial issues, related to the work of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS.

The sides achieved agreement to hold next session of the Council of the SCO RATS in Kyrgyz Republic in September 2012.
