Head of the mission, SCO General Secretary Bolat Nurgaliyev read the statement of the mission on the monitoring of the elections of the President of Uzbekistan, UzA reported.
The country’s election legislation complies with common international election standards and democratic norms, the statement reads. It creates all necessary legal conditions for free expression of the voters’ will.
The SCO observers met heads of the candidates’ election staff and familiarized themselves with the preparation to the elections in the cities of Bukhara, Tashkent and Kagan. They also participated at the voting and vote counting processes at a number of polling stations.
No violations were revealed during the election process and vote counting, the mission’s statement says.
The SCO mission stated that the elections of the President in Uzbekistan were legitimate, free and transparent, and fully complied with the national legislation and international norms.
