SCO leaders to consider development of organization
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Presidents of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will exchange opinions on international and regional issues, ensuring peace and stability in Central Asia, promoting further coordination and development of the organization, Ambassador of China to Uzbekistan Yu Hongjun said in interview to China International Radio

He said that the SCO leaders will also review implementation of agreements, reached during their 2009 summit in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

Chinese envoy stated that new international and regional problems are appearing in current international situation, when financial crisis does not end. He said the SCO member states should strengthen exchange of information and coordination within the organization to protect their general interests and increase role of the SCO in ensuring peace and stability of the region.

Founded in 2001 in Shanghai, the SCO includes China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, and covers an area of more than 30 million square km with a population of about 1.5 billion. Mongolia, Pakistan, Iran and India have become observer states since the SCO created an observer mechanism in 2004.
