SCO forms normative base for expansion of organization
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) completed work on creation of normative base for expansion of organization, SCO Secretary-General Dmitry Mezentsev said.

He said that in last summit of the organization in Dushanbe, leaders of six countries signed a historic document, which completed work on formation of normative base for expansion of the SCO.

Dmitry Mezentsev noted that current members of the SCO are welcoming expansion of the organization. He said that decision on the SCO expansion will be adopted at upcoming summit of the organization, which will be held in Ufa on 8-10 July 2015.

So, there is no legal obstacles for expansion of the organization, he said.

He said that currently the SCO seriously consider and discuss submitted applications for membership, observer status and partner on dialogue.

Mezentsev said that the SCO welcomes expansion of the organization, which would work for increasing authority and impact of the SCO in the region in solving international issues.

SCO members are Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. India, Pakistan, Mongolia and Afghanistan are observers in the organization.
