Samarkand hosts II cycling marathon among preschool children

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 May 2022, the second cycling marathon dedicated to the International Children’s Day was held in Samarkand among children aged 6 years.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Preschool Education, the Office of the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan, the Ministry for Sports Development and the Cycling Federation.

More than 120 children under the age of 6 took part in the cycling marathon.

Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Chairperson of the Cycling Federation T. Narbayeva spoke at the opening ceremony and congratulated the children on the upcoming International Children’s Day. It was noted that special attention is paid to the development of cycling in our country, in this direction, resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan are being adopted to support athletes, thanks to which over the past four years our cyclists have won 98 gold, silver and bronze medals at prestigious international competitions.

The marathon was organized in order to protect the environment and develop sustainable skills in the field of using a green mode of transport in the country, encourage children to protect nature, introduce them to physical culture and sports, popularize cycling among preschool children, promote a healthy lifestyle, and form a culture among them. behavior on the roads, skills to comply with traffic safety rules.

As part of the initiative, 20 state preschool educational organizations of the republic were selected, which were presented with 500 balance bikes.

The children who participated in the cycling marathon were awarded with commemorative medals and gifts. An entertainment program was also organized for them, various competitions and games were held with art creators.
