Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Culture Ozodbekov Nazarbekov took part in the 12th conference of ministers of culture of the Islamic world on the topic “Towards the renewal of cultural activities in the Islamic world”, which was held in Qatar.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture, within the framework of the conference, Samarkand was approved as the cultural capital of the Islamic world for 2025. This status will allow the world to show the cultural heritage of one of the oldest cities in Central Asia, reports Dunyo news agency.
The conference also discussed a number of issues related to the leading principles of world cultural policy and indicators of sustainable development, the assessment of living wealth and traditional knowledge of humanity in the Islamic world, as well as the fight against illicit trafficking in cultural property.
