Russia’s Prosecutor General visits Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Igor Krasnov, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, arrived in Tashkent on a working visit at the invitation of his Uzbek counterpart, Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldashev, according to the press service of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office.

Meeting Between Nigmatilla Yuldashev and Igor Krasnov took place in Tashkent

Igor Krasnov paid special attention to the development of expert-level cooperation within the frameworks of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He emphasized the importance of organizing unscheduled expert meetings to discuss current issues and find joint solutions.

In 2024, a cooperation program was signed between the prosecutors’ offices of Russia and Uzbekistan, outlining areas for the exchange of practical experience.

Krasnov also noted that cooperation in the fight against terrorism, extremism, the illegal trade of drugs and weapons, and transnational crime aligns with the long-term goals set during the visit of the Presidents of Russia and Uzbekistan in May this year.

The Russian Prosecutor General particularly focused on the exchange of experience between law enforcement educational institutions, such as Uzbekistan’s Law Enforcement Academy, which actively employs digital technologies in prosecutors’ work. Krasnov proposed continuing the exchange of prosecutor groups and delegations of instructors for professional development and invited Nigmatilla Yuldashev to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June 2025.

Additionally, Igor Krasnov suggested reforming the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of CIS countries for a more responsive approach to common threats and challenges.

In his view, expanding the council’s secretariat and involving representatives from financial and tax authorities would improve the practical effectiveness of its work.
