Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Russia will send monkeypox test kits to Uzbekistan, developed by the Vector Scientific Center. This was announced by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.
On 26 August, an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Heads of Authorized Bodies in the Field of Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) took place.
The event was attended by the chief state sanitary doctors of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Representatives from the sanitary-epidemiological authorities of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were also invited to the meeting.
The participants discussed the situation related to the World Health Organization’s declaration of a public health emergency of international concern regarding monkeypox.
The meeting noted that the risk of monkeypox spread in EAEU countries, as well as in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, is assessed as low.
All Eurasian region countries have enhanced sanitary and quarantine control at their borders.
The partners requested Russia to provide monkeypox diagnostic test kits developed by the Vector Scientific Center.
"The first batches of test kits will be delivered to Uzbekistan later this week," Rospotrebnadzor reported.
