Russia declares 24 March as a day of national mourning

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President Vladimir Putin declared 24 March as a day of national mourning in memory of those killed after the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall in Moscow region.

“I declare the twenty-fourth of March a day of national mourning,” the head of state said in his address to the Russians.

On 22 March, a terrorist attack occurred in the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Moscow region. A group of armed men in camouflage burst into the building where a concert of the Picnic group with a symphony orchestra was about to begin.

At least three men in camouflage and without masks burst into the hall through the stalls. They shot people at close range and threw incendiary bombs, which started a fire.

According to the latest data, the death toll was 133 people. The Moscow Region Ministry of Health published a list with the names of 41 dead. More than 110 people were taken to hospitals.

On Saturday morning, FSB director Alexander Bortnikov reported to Putin that 11 people had been detained, including all four criminals directly involved in the terrorist attack.

According to the department, four suspects were detained in Bryansk region. After the terrorist attack, they tried to escape in a car and cross the border. The terrorists had contacts in Ukraine, they used weapons previously hidden in a cache. The search for their accomplices is underway.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case regarding the terrorist attack.
