Ruslan Chagaev-Luis Ortiz is ordered by the WBA

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The World Boxing Association championships committee has ordered ‘regular’ heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev and the interim-champion Luis Ortiz of Cuba to begin negotiations for an upcoming title fight, the WBA said.

The negotiations period shall last 30 days, beginning today. In the event both parties do not reach an agreement, the WBA shall order a purse bid, it added.

Chagaev has been the champion since June 6, 2014 and has a record of 23-2-1, 20 KO’s, while Ortiz became the interim champion on September 11 with a first round TKO of Lateef Kayode. He has a record of 22-0, 19 KO’s.
