Revenue of MTS Uzbekistan grows by 5% in 1Q 2012
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Revenue of MTS Uzbekistan made up US$115.7 million in the first quarter of 2012, which grew by 5% year-on-year, Russia’s Mobile TeleSystems said.

MTS Uzbekistan received US$2.1 million net loss in the first three months of 2012 against net income for US$16 million in the same period of 2011.

OIBDA made up US$51.3 million in the first quarter of 2012, or decreased by 9.4% year-on-year, the report of the company said.

OIBDA margin decreased from 54.1% in the first quarter of 2011 to 44.3% in the same period of 2012, the Russian company said.

Operating income before depreciation and amortization (OIBDA) represents operating income before depreciation and amortization. OIBDA margin is defined as OIBDA as a percentage of net revenues.

ARPU made up US$4.1 in the first quarter of 2012 compared to US$3.9 in the first quarter of 2011. Average monthly service revenue per subscriber (ARPU) is calculated by dividing service revenues for a given period, including interconnect and guest roaming fees, by the average number of our subscribers during that period and dividing by the number of months in that period.

The MOU grew from 402 minutes in the first quarter of 2011 to 468 minutes in the same period of 2012. Average monthly minutes of usage per subscriber (MOU) is calculated by dividing the total number of minutes of usage during a given period by the average number of our subscribers during the period and dividing by the number of months in that period.

According to the MTS, the churn level made up 11.9% in the first three months of 2012 against 9.2% in the same period of 2011.

The subscribers’ base of MTS Uzbekistan grew from 9.1 million in the first three months of 2011 to 9.5 million in the same period of 2012.

The volume of capital investments made up US$15.4 million in January-March 2012.
