The two sides drew 1-1 in Tashkent last week with Saleh Al Saqri grabbing a vital equaliser for the visitors therefore Al Ittihad will still progress to the last four with a goalless draw in Jeddah.

International defender Osama Al Harbi and Omani midfielder Ahmed Hadid are available for selection again after missing the first-leg match through suspension but Calderon (pictured) is still missing Naif Hazazi, who is out due to the knee injury he picked up during Saudi Arabia’s against Malaysia in August.

On loan Hertha Berlin striker Amin Chermiti is expected to start the match and partner Argentine forward Luciano Leguizamon in attack.

Leguizamon missed the Tashkent match due to injury and had been given 10 days to rest prior to the game to ensure he was fully fit.

And Calderon is confident his refreshed side will get the result they need to progress to the last four.

“We will miss one of our key players, Hazazi, but we have a number of players who have spent the whole week preparing for the match,” he said.

“I also think we have also achieved 50% of our goal in this tournament. We will continue this after we secure the win on Wednesday. I now know what to expect from the Uzbeks following last week’s game.”

Al Ittihad skipper Mohammad Noor is also confident he and the rest of the players have what it takes to defeat Pakhtakor.

“Both teams know each other’s style and Saudi teams have had experiences of playing against Uzbekistan teams,” he said. “It was difficult to show the ultimate performance during the first leg match, but I am sure we will seal the home win.”

Pakhtakor coach Viktor Djalilov insists his side are not feeling “under pressure” by the prospect of tackling Al Ittihad on their home soil.

Al Ittihad were the better side in the first leg and will likely prove difficult opponents once again but Djalilov insists his players will not take a cautious approach to the game.

“We came here to win and we are not looking for a draw,” he said.

“We are not under any pressure and while it is true that we are playing against one of the strongest team my team and I are ready to prove that we deserve to be in the semi-finals.”
