Representatives of NOC of Uzbekistan and Russia hold talks on development of water sports and athletics

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee Jasur Matchanov and Vice President Ahmadjon Rakhimov visited Moscow on a working visit, where they met with the Secretary General of the NOC of Russia Anastasia Davydova, Deputy Secretary General - Head of the Department of International Relations Yury Yuryev, sports director Andrei Konokotin.

During the negotiations, representatives of the two countries discussed further work on the memorandum of cooperation, which was signed last year.

Russia today is rightfully included in the list of world countries where athletics and water sports are developed. During the talks today, the parties discussed the possibility of inviting specialists to Uzbekistan to exchange experience on development of water sports and athletics. In addition, negotiations were held on the organization of training sessions on water polo and synchronized swimming.

In March, Uzbekistan is opening of the multifunctional palace "Humo". It is noteworthy that our colleagues are aware of the upcoming event and expressed a wish to attend the opening ceremony. In turn, Jasur Matchanov noted that we would only be happy to receive our colleagues as guests of honor at the upcoming significant for the Uzbek sport event.

Representatives of the NOC of Russia highly appreciated the development of weightlifting in Uzbekistan, and expressed their desire to hold a final training session before the Olympics in Tokyo 2020 with our athletes in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, in the same time zone and climate as Japan, where in 2020 they will be to pass the Olympic Games.

The parties expressed the hope that cooperation between two countries in the development of sports will be productive.
