Report and strategic plan of Uzbekistan Swimming Federation criticized

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- With the participation of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Minister of Tourism and Sports Aziz Abdukhakimov, the activities of swimming and rugby federations for the Tokyo 2020 cycle, as well as plans for preparing for the Summer Asian Games Hangzhou-2022 and Summer Olympics Paris 2024 were discussed.

The meeting was also attended by the leadership of the NOC, headed by Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov. First, the report of the Swimming Federation was heard. According to the report, during the Tokyo 2020 cycle, the swimming federation received more than 25 billion soums. It is reported that 66 local and 26 foreign training camps were organized during this period.

During the meeting, it was criticized that Uzbek athletes in 4 swimming disciplines (swimming, diving, synchronized swimming and water polo) won only 2 licenses at Tokyo 2020. Moreover, they failed to win a single medal at the Olympics.

At the end, the plans of the federation for the next 3 years were discussed. Instructions were given to invite experienced coaches and consultants from abroad in each direction of swimming and to develop a specific action plan for the development of this sport in remote regions of the country.

This was followed by a discussion of the work done by the Uzbekistan Rugby Federation and a presentation of the three-year work plan of the federation until 2024.

According to the plan, the main focus will be on preparing for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, developing concrete actions for the future, and drawing conclusions from mistakes.

At the end of the meeting, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the National Olympic Committee, sports federations and associations, and other relevant ministries and organizations were assigned important tasks to thoroughly prepare athletes for the upcoming prestigious international competitions, including the Hangzhou Asian Games-2022 and the Paris-2024 Olympics.

In addition, the officials were tasked with successfully participating in licensing and rating competitions at the 2024 Games in Paris and increasing the number of licenses and medals compared to Tokyo 2020.
