Dr Saleh Al Taei, Secretary General of UAE RCA and head of the delegation to Uzbekistan said that large quantities of food supplies, medicines and blankets were distributed among the refugees while our visit to the camps.

As agreed with the Uzbek Red Crescent to provide the camps with drinking water which they lack especially in such hot summer.

Dr. Al-Taei informed Emirates News Agency (WAM) that he met a number of refugees in the camps and agreed with the contractors of the domestic market of Uzbekistan to provide drinking water to five refugee camps. Moreover, the Red Crescent managed trucks carrying food, medicines and blankets to refugees for immediate distribution.

The Red Crescent delegation also visited the main government hospital in the city of Andijan Uzbekistan, where they enquired the health of a number of wounded refugees affected by recent events in Kyrgyzstan.

Dr. Al-Tai delivered the warm wishes of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, Chairman of RCA for their speedy recovery.

The Chairman of Red Crescent delegation met the representative of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent, which praised the fast response of the UAE RCA in sending emergency aid to refugees on the border between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
