Ravshanbek Alimov appointed as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  On 29 November 2024, Ravshanbek Alimov arrived in Ashgabat to assume his duties as the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan, according to the Dunyo news agency.

The 58-year-old diplomat brings extensive experience in both diplomatic and governmental roles. Alimov graduated from the Moscow State Technical University named after N. Bauman, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Uzbekistan, and Georgetown University in the United States.

He began his career in 1990 at Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations (now the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade). Over the years, he has held key positions in the Presidential Administration, the Secretariat of the Prime Minister, and the Ministry of Macroeconomics and Statistics.

From 2002 to 2008, Alimov served as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Ukraine and concurrently to Moldova, France, and Portugal.

Following his tenure abroad, he continued working within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including roles as an advisor at the Uzbek Embassy in Moscow and as a senior official within the ministry’s central apparatus.

In 2020, Alimov was elected as a senator and chaired the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Ties, Foreign Investments, and Tourism of the Oliy Majlis.

Alimov succeeds Akmal Kuchkarov, who served as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan from 2016 to 2024.
