Radulovic quits Pakhtakor
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Pakhtakor coach Miodrag Radulovic has parted ways with the Uzbek powerhouse days before their AFC Champions League Round of 16 encounter against Qatar’s Al Gharafa.

The sudden development presents a big challenge to Pakhtakor who will attempt to book their place in the quarter-finals by seeing off Al Gharafa’s challenge on May 11.

Montenegro’s Radulovic took over the reins in December 2009 and guided the team to the R16 of the AFC Champions League from a tough Group C that also included former winners UAE’s Al Ain, Iran’s Sepahan and Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab.

“It was a hard decision to take but I need to move on in my career. I am thankful to the Pakhtakor management who have accepted my request to end the contract amicably,” the 42-year-old told the club’s official website.

“There are many talented players in Pakhtakor and I am sure the youngsters have the ability to take the club to new heights.

“Alisher Azizov could become the best striker of the country in the near future while the likes of Sherzodbek Karimov, Davron Hashimov, Vladimir Kozak, Nikita Rybkin, Abdumutallib Abdullaev, Egor Krimets, Akbar Ismatullaev and Bekzod Mirkhaydarov will help Pakhtakor attain more success in the future.”

Club vice-president Samvel Babayan said Murod Ismailov, who was assistant to Radulovic, would be in charge temporarily until a new coach is found.
