Race for the Cure takes place in Karshi, Samarkand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Race for the Cure and ‘In the Name of Life’ fundraising football matches were held in Karshi, Kashkadarya region, on 10 April 2013 and Samarkand, Samarkand region, on 12 April 2013.

The events are part of the series of Susan G. Komen Uzbekistan Races for the Cure across the country and “In the Name of Life” football matches organized by Fund Forum, NBCAU and the Women’s Council. The events are directed at raising funds to support women with breast cancer.

Over 4,000 people joined the Race for the Cure, included doctors, athletes, entrepreneurs, students, teachers, public figures, children and their parents. The winners of the race were saluted with diplomas and prizes.

‘In the Name of Life’ fundraising football match attracted over 16,000 people. As a tradition, the match was held between Uzbek celebrities and members of Kelajak Ovozi. Team of Kelajak Ovozi won the match after penalty shootouts.

The Race for the Cure in Samarkand region attracted over 8,500 people. The winners of the race were awarded with diplomas and prizes.

Shakhnoz, singer and composer, said that she is happy for projects organized under motto ‘In the Name of Life’ as they help to fight with disease.

Dilshod Giyasov (MC Shod) said that the race and football match was great. The football match was organized well, he said. He expressed gratitude to all organizers of the campaign.

The Race for the Cure and ‘In the Name of Life’ fundraising football matches were held in Tashkent, Syrdarya, Navoi, Jizzakh, Khorezm, Bukhara, Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya, Samarkand regions and Karakalpakstan. Over 49,000 people attended Race for the Cure and 121,000 people watched football matches.
