Prospects for Uzbek-Belarusian dialogue discussed in St. Petersburg

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 18 April 2025, within the framework of international parliamentary events in St. Petersburg, a meeting was held between the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbaeva, and the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Natalia Kochanova.

During the discussion, the sides reviewed the current state and prospects for the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as the progress of preparations for the official visit of the Uzbek parliamentary delegation to the Vitebsk region, scheduled for August of this year.

Special attention was paid to the organizational and substantive aspects of the upcoming events, including the holding of an interregional forum with the participation of local government representatives from both countries, the third Uzbek-Belarusian Women's Business Forum, and the sessions of youth parliaments.

The parties confirmed their interest in active and constructive cooperation aimed at quality preparation and successful implementation of the planned events. It was emphasized that these initiatives contribute to strengthening ties between the regions, business circles, youth, and women’s leadership in Uzbekistan and Belarus.

An important part of the discussion was cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including educational exchanges and joint initiatives in youth policy. Uzbekistan confirmed its participation in international programs such as the "Memory Train" and "Children of the Commonwealth," emphasizing their significance for strengthening the friendship between the peoples and preserving historical heritage.

Furthermore, issues related to cooperation within international organizations were addressed, including the exchange of experiences in conducting elections and participation in international monitoring missions.

Following the meeting, both sides highlighted the need to maintain the high dynamics of inter-parliamentary dialogue and ensure the effective implementation of the agreements reached at all levels.
