The programme was approved with the resolution of the Uzbek President. It was adopted to further develop and improve efficiency of using of tourism potential of Khiva city and Khorezm region.

The programme envisages measures on developing tourism infrastructure of Khiva city and Khorezm region in line with modern requirements and create favourable conditions for tourists.

It is planned to realize a project on construction of railway line, which will link main tourism centers of Uzbekistan. It is also planned to organize charter flights and increase number of flights to the countries of Europe, Asia and CIS.

The programme envisages measures on improving tourism routes and quality of provided services, as well as promotion of tourism brands of Khiva city and Khorezm region in international tourism markets.

It is also planned to implement a complex of restoration works around and within Ichan Qala complex.
