Presidents of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan Launch Green Energy Development and Transmission Project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 November,at the COP29 summit, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement for the development and transmission of green energy.

In his address, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that renewable energy is not merely an economic goal but a contribution to the future, reflecting responsibility toward coming generations.

The project’s environmental significance was highlighted, as it will rely on wind and solar power—renewable and clean sources that will help reduce climate impact.

The participating countries support joint climate protection efforts aligned with the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.

President Mirziyoyev noted that with substantial renewable energy resources, the three countries can play a significant role in the global energy transition. He also outlined Uzbekistan’s extensive work in this field, with an accelerated green energy program adding around two gigawatts of solar and wind capacity annually.

By the end of the year, an additional 2.6 gigawatts of renewable energy and 300 megawatts of storage systems will connect to the grid.

By 2030, renewable sources are expected to reach a 40% share, with storage capacity growing to 4.2 gigawatts.

The President expressed confidence that all participants will benefit economically from the project, which will create tens of thousands of jobs, develop energy infrastructure, and strengthen technological and business connections, ultimately raising living standards.

The importance of expediting the project was emphasized, including forming a joint venture, developing technical documentation, and completing other essential procedures.

In closing, President Mirziyoyev reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to this regional project.
