Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During his official visit to Baku, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Muhammad bin Sulaiman Al-Jasser.
The meeting focused on ways to further expand cooperation with this leading international financial institution.
The President highlighted the dynamic development of the partnership with IDB, particularly emphasizing the successful hosting of the
Arab Coordination Group meeting, chaired by the bank, in Tashkent in March of this year. The meeting was attended by major financial institutions from the Islamic world.
The portfolio of projects with IDB has exceeded 4 billion dollars, with 40 percent directed towards the private sector.
An important step has been the gradual formation of the capital of the Joint Fund for Expanding Economic Opportunities of Uzbekistan, created with the bank’s participation.
Special attention was given to expanding practical cooperation to implement new projects in areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, ecology, entrepreneurship, mobilizing private investments, and actively involving the bank’s structures in project activities.
There was also an exchange of views on IDB’s involvement in financing large-scale investment projects in Uzbekistan’s industrial and extractive sectors.
