After the official welcoming ceremony, leaders of two states held face-to-face talks and negotiations in expended structure with participation of the official delegations.

Within the negotiations, the sides considered current state and perspectives of trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian relations, actual problems of regional and international character of mutual interest. In particular, the sides discussed issues of cooperation in transport-communication sector, education and other directions.

During the negotiations, the sides underlined that the level of trade-economic relations does not correspondent opportunities and potentials of the countries.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, trade turnover between two countries made up US$9.2 million in the first half of 2010 against US$23.6 million in the same period of 2009.

Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan underlined close views on all considered issues, which was reflected in joint declaration, which was signed by Islam Karimov and Ilkham Aliev.

In the result of the talks, leaders of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan signed a joint declaration, envisaging development of relations in several issues.

The Governments of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan also inked agreement on cooperation for 2011-2015. Foreign Ministries signed agreement on introduction of changes and amendments to visa free travels of citizens of two countries. The agreement prolonged visa free regime between two states till 2012.

Foreign Ministries also inked programme of cooperation for 2010-2012. Interior Affairs Ministries of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan signed protocol f understanding for 2010-2012.

Prosecutor-General Offices of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan signed an agreement on cooperation and legal assistance.

The agreement “On mutual acceptance of aviation personal” was signed between the State Inspection of Uzbekistan on Flight Security and Civil Aviation Administration of Azerbaijan.

National Television and Broadcasting Company of Uzbekistan and Television and Azerbaijan Radio Broadcasting Company signed a cooperation agreement. Uzbekistan Art Academy and Institute of Architecture and Art of National Science Academy of Azerbaijan also agreed to cooperate.

During the briefing, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov stated that the sides agreed to hold exhibitions of achievements of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan economies in Tashkent and Baku. He added that Azerbaijan will organize exhibition in Tashkent in late October 2010 and Uzbekistan will present its opportunities in Baku in November 2010.

Azerbaijani President Ilkham Aliev noted that Azerbaijan is firm on developing relations with Uzbekistan in all directions and today the sides discussed concrete transport projects and economic cooperation. He added that the sides will implement all what the countries outlined today.
