President signs law “On approval of Consular Charter of the Republic of Uzbekistan”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law “On approval of Consular Charter of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

The document establishes the main tasks of consular institutions for the protection abroad of the interests of the country, the rights and legitimate interests of citizens and legal entities of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The document expands the functions of the consul to protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens and legal entities, in particular, to assist citizens in the case of finding them on the territory of the consular district without means of subsistence, the exercise of electoral rights, loss of an identity document.

The rights, duties and responsibilities of a consular officer are defined, criteria for assessing the effectiveness of its activities are being introduced, the functions of consuls for the provision of services using modern information and communication technologies are being established: filing visa questionnaires, requesting documents, registering with consulates, etc. The law is approved by senators.
