President reviews new projects in tourism and urban development sectors
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 14 April, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with new projects in the fields of tourism and urban development aimed at enhancing Uzbekistan’s appeal as a tourist destination and creating modern conditions for living and recreation.
During a recent video conference on 9 April, the President highlighted Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage and unique natural landscapes, emphasizing their vast potential for tourism. He noted that, with the right approach, the tourist flow to the country could increase two to threefold.
Special attention was given to the prospects of the “Chorvoq Darvoza” complex, located in the picturesque Bostanlyk district. The President had previously visited the site in December and reviewed the construction progress in person.
The first phase of the project has recently been completed. It includes 16 apartment buildings, three hotels, commercial and service facilities, cafes, restaurants, a bank branch, and parking spaces. To boost energy efficiency, solar panels will be installed on rooftops.
The presentation also outlined further development plans for the complex, including measures to enhance its tourist appeal. One of the proposals involves the construction of a small hydroelectric power station on the Chirchiq River to provide the complex with affordable and environmentally friendly electricity.
Another key initiative is the construction of an oceanarium in Tashkent’s Yashnabad district. The new facility will span 20 hectares along the Chirchiq River and will be accompanied by a shopping and hotel complex, expected to create approximately 1,600 new jobs and boost economic activity in the area.
Additionally, a modern residential and business district is planned for the Yakkasaray district of the capital. The project will include multi-storey apartment buildings, preschools and schools, sports and wellness centers, a hotel, and office spaces.
The President stressed the importance of thoroughly addressing the legal, financial, and infrastructure aspects of all proposed initiatives. He instructed the preparation of a detailed action plan with clear deadlines and quality standards, and called for strict oversight at every stage of implementation.
