Uzbekistan 06/02/2008 President of Uzbekistan starts official visit to Russia
At the talks in Moscow, the sides are expected to discuss the state and perspectives of Uzbek-Russian relations, cooperation in security, as well as regional and international problems representing mutual interest.

A number of bilateral documents on expansion of cooperation in various spheres will be signed during the visit to the Russian capital.

Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia has been developing in line with the Allied relations treaty signed in 2005. The mutual respect and trust of the heads of two states, as well as common views on cooperation, security and stability, play an important role in the bilateral relations.

Russia accounts for more than 30% of Uzbekistan’s external commodity turnover. The list of export and import includes machinery and equipment, energy carriers, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, cotton fiber, plastics, wood, food and agricultural products.

The volume of mutual turnover increased by 48% last year to US$4.2 billion.

About 527 enterprises created jointly with Russian investors operate in Uzbekistan, together with 139 representative offices of Russian companies.

The number of enterprises set up in Russia with participation of Uzbek investments is 293.
