Welcoming the guest, Islam Karimov said that her visit to the country was a testament to the tremendous interest shown by the international community, especially the WHO, to changes in the healthcare system of Uzbekistan.

Margaret Chan expressed her sincere gratitude for the high award – the Soglom Avlod Uchun (For the Healthy Generation) order issues to her and a warm welcome. She noted that the WHO since 1991 has seen a high level of political responsibility in Uzbekistan in the area of protection of motherhood and childhood, UzA reported.

She said that the “Healthy mother – healthy child” program carried out in Uzbekistan covers all essential elements of good care for mothers and children, including primary healthcare and hospital care, regular routine inspections and emergency medical care, disease prevention through immunization and early diagnosis through screening.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the status and prospects of future cooperation between Uzbekistan and the WHO.
