Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the invitation of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is on an official visit to Abu Dhabi.
On 14 January, during the visit, the President of Uzbekistan participated in the opening ceremonies of the International Summit "Abu Dhabi Sustainable Development Week" and the awarding of the Sheikh Zayed Prize for Sustainable Development.
The event was attended by prominent global leaders, including the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim, President of Nigeria Bola Tinubu, President of Rwanda Paul Kagame, and many other high-ranking guests.
The "Abu Dhabi Sustainable Development Week" summit was established in 2008 by the UAE government and the company "Masdar." Its goal is to accelerate sustainable development worldwide, encompassing economic, social, and environmental progress, ensuring food and water security, and promoting energy conservation and decarbonization.
During the summit, critical issues related to sustainable development, innovations in the green economy, and strengthening regional cooperation in energy and food security were discussed.
The awarding ceremony of the Sheikh Zayed Prize was a significant moment of the forum. This year, the winner in the "Global Middle Schools" category was the Presidential School in Tashkent. The award was presented by the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the school representatives on their victory and met with them to discuss further steps in the fields of education and sustainable development.
