Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of his visit to the Andijan region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with representatives of foreign companies planning to implement investment projects in the area.

As noted during today’s meeting, Andijan plans to launch 763 small and micro hydropower plants with a total capacity of 24 megawatts this year, with an additional 20 megawatts planned for next year.

One Chinese company expressed its readiness to establish local production of the equipment needed for such hydropower stations directly in the region. The constructed stations will be serviced free of charge for one year.

A major urban development and construction program was also announced the day before in the city of Babur. Many investors showed interest in participating in the construction of the new city.

In particular, a Chinese investor intends to invest US$250 million in building a modern multifunctional complex. The project, spanning 55 hectares, will include a business center, hotel, shopping complexes, and residential buildings with 3,000 apartments.

Detailed information about this and other projects was presented at the meeting. The President instructed relevant officials to intensify efforts to attract investments, establish close cooperation with investors, and create all necessary conditions for them.

With this, the President concluded his visit to the Andijan region and returned to Tashkent.
