President of Uzbekistan meets with Chinese delegation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 1 April, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a delegation from the People’s Republic of China, led by Liu Jianchao, Head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

Liu Jianchao conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Chinese President Xi Jinping to the Uzbek leader.

During the talks, the sides discussed prospects for further strengthening the multifaceted cooperation and practical interaction between Uzbekistan and China within the framework of agreements reached at the highest level. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the high level of Uzbek-Chinese relations, which in recent years have evolved into an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership.

Bilateral trade and investment cooperation continue to show steady growth, with an increasing number of joint projects and enterprises. Leading Chinese companies are being attracted to key sectors of Uzbekistan’s economy.

Special attention was given to the implementation of the strategic infrastructure project—the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.

The two sides also highly praised the active interregional contacts and cultural-humanitarian exchanges. This year, Uzbekistan and China plan to hold a Regional Forum and an Education Forum aimed at further strengthening ties between the peoples of both countries.

The importance of enhancing interparliamentary and interparty cooperation was emphasized, particularly in areas such as poverty alleviation, anti-corruption efforts, accelerated digitalization, and industrialization.

The meeting also highlighted the significance of expanding cooperation in higher and vocational education, including the establishment of branches of leading Chinese universities in Uzbekistan.
