President Mirziyoyev addresses rising potato and meat prices

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  On 1 November, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev voiced concerns during a government meeting focused on the development of the Navoi region regarding the sharp rise in potato and meat prices in certain regions.

The President attributed the price hikes to inefficiencies in establishing food reserves. In 18 districts and cities, stable supplies of key products—such as meat, potatoes, onions, carrots, and rice—have not been secured, and no funds have been allocated for food banks in Tashkent, Syrdarya, and Khorezm.

President Mirziyoyev instructed officials to stabilize prices, establish reliable food reserves, and prevent unjustified price markups. To achieve these goals, the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Protection will be involved.

Regional and city officials have been tasked with creating reserves totaling 620,000 tons of food.
