Economy 30/05/2007 Presentations on UNDP initiatives “Private sector development: need for partnership”

Strengthening collaboration among government, international organizations, private sector and civil society will have a positive impact on the growth of businesses in the country, identifying and removing barriers, and promoting development of business and resource mobilization. Such collaboration can also assist in developing priorities for further support in the area of private sector development, which requires a close partnership among international donors, the expert community, and the government.

 

In order to foster this partnership, UNDP in Uzbekistan and Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and Industry are organizing presentations on UNDP initiatives “Private sector development: need for partnership”, aimed at private sector development. The event will be held in Amir Temur Hall of Interncontinental hotel on 1 June 2007.

 

During the event participants will receive detailed information on current activities and future plans of UNDP’s technical cooperation projects in Uzbekistan, particularly in the areas of taxation and customs systems’ reform, export and import stimulation, public-private partnership, area-based development and agriculture, improvement of access and quality of statistics, etc. Participants will also have an opportunity to set directions for future collaboration, and share ideas and opinions with other participants on the issues of private sector development.

 

It is expected that representatives of key government agencies in charge of socio-economic policy, Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and Industry, foreign chambers, trade missions and embassies of foreign countries to Uzbekistan, international organizations along with leading entrepreneurs from various sectors of Uzbekistan’s economy will be among some of the experts that will attend the event.
