Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to implement the Presidential Decree “On the preparation of Uzbek athletes for the XXXII Summer Olympic and XVI Paralympic Games in 2020 in Tokyo (Japan)” from 9 March 2017, a lot of preparations are being made for the main sporting event of the four-year anniversary.
In particular, grandiose projects are being implemented by the National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of Uzbekistan. In turn, our government creates all the necessary conditions for the worthy participation of athletes in licensed competitions, at local and international training camps.
Today, the National Olympic Committee held a press conference on the activities of the operational headquarters, which was created at the NOC to prepare for the XXXII Olympic and XVI Paralympic Games in Tokyo and the presentation of sports equipment and dress uniform for the delegation of Uzbekistan for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020. In the first part of the event, the activities of the operational headquarters were reviewed, in which the head of the headquarters, chairman of the WT Taekwondo Association Sherzod Tashmatov and director de of the coordination committee for the activities of Olympic sports NOC Alisher Karimov.
“As you know, in connection with the coronavirus, many competitions are postponed to new dates. Unfortunately, such changes affect the training processes. By April-May, we hope to increase the number of licenses. Now we are strictly following a well-defined preparation plan,” said Alisher Karimov.
“The main goal of the operational headquarters is to work individually with licensees and with athletes who are preparing to win a license, monitor their health and social status and, most importantly, ensure successful participation in the Olympic Games. Our Dear President, we are very supportive in preparing for Tokyo 2020. We must be worthy and justify trust,” Sherzod Tashmatov said.
It should be noted that the issue of choosing sports equipment for the Olympics for athletes, a delegation and a support group is becoming one of the relevant issues. NOC together with the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of Uzbekistan created a working group, which includes representatives of leading companies and talented designers. An international competition was announced in which interested and professional designers could submit their sketches of sports equipment at Tokyo 2020. The competition was attended by more than 100 candidates with their works. In the end, the best of the best were selected and presented to our President and government. Our Dear President expressed his positive opinion. It should be noted that the equipment was created taking into account the climate of Tokyo.
The second half of the press conference was attended by the director of the NOC Department of International Relations Kamoliddin Ergashev, Vice-Rector of the Institute of Textile and Light Industry Halida Kamilova and equipment designer Elnora Rizaeva.
“The head of the country personally controls the process of creating Tokyo 2020 equipment. Athletes have different physiques depending on the sport. Given this, each clothing will be created individually. Especially for para-athletes, equipment will be made depending on their classification,” said Khalida Kamilova.
“The designs reflect colors from our national flag. White color is used by many countries of the world. Therefore, we tried to use a tandem of white and green. This is very convenient during the Olympic Games, given the hot and humid climate of Tokyo. The clothes look very beautiful, we also tried to use elements that symbolize our rich cultural heritage. These colors and elements are considered positive in the Islamic religion. Having seen these clothes, a person should have the impression of rapidly developing Uzbekistan,” equipment designer Elnora Rizaeva said.
