Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Presidential resolution “On measures for the comprehensive preparation for the 46th World Chess Olympiad held in 2026 in Uzbekistan, as well as the transformation of chess into a mass movement” was adopted.

Taking into account the decision made at the Congress of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) in 2022 to hold the 46th World Chess Olympiad and the next FIDE Congress in 2026 in Uzbekistan, the proposal of the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports and the Chess Federation of Uzbekistan to hold the 46th th World Chess Olympiad in Samarkand.

The document approved the composition of the Organizing Committee for Comprehensive Preparation for the 46th World Chess Olympiad and defined its main tasks:

organizing visits of the FIDE management delegation and signing contracts, agreements with FIDE;

drawing up a master plan for the preparation and program of the 46th World Chess Olympiad, etc.

Also approved was the Program of measures for comprehensive preparation for the 46th World Chess Olympiad, held in 2026 in Uzbekistan, as well as the transformation of chess into a mass movement. It is planned to:

implementation of the special program "Chess starts from kindergarten", the annual holding of the "Chess Festival" among pupils of preschool educational organizations.

annual holding in general secondary, secondary specialized, professional and higher educational institutions of three-stage chess competitions "School League", "League of Academic Lyceums", "League of Professional Educational Institutions", "Student League";

establish from 1 January 2024 "Chess Scholarship".

As an encouragement, pupils and students who have become winners of the competitions "School League", "League of Academic Lyceums", "League of Professional Educational Institutions" and "Student League" are paid monthly "Chess Scholarship" during the year in the amount of five times the basic estimated value.
