Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 June 2024, in Paris (France), a meeting was held between the Chairman of the National Commission of UNESCO of the Republic of Uzbekistan Gayane Umerova and the Director General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay.
UNESCO is a specialized agency of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
The parties discussed practical aspects of comprehensive preparation for the anniversary session of the UNESCO General Conference, which will be held in November 2025 in Samarkand. Founded on November 16, 1945, this session will be held outside its headquarters in Paris for the first time in forty years.
Particular attention was paid to the preparatory work and joint measures to ensure that this historic UNESCO event is held in Uzbekistan at the highest level.
Agreements were reached on the preparation and adoption of new global initiatives within the framework of UNESCO’s mandate at the upcoming General Conference in Samarkand, as well as on strategic projects and programs for the development of bilateral cooperation.
The commitment to further strengthening the full-scale partnership between UNESCO and Uzbekistan was confirmed.
