Proposals for the development of engineering education considered

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Inno Technopark in Almazar district, Tashkent.

The technopark was established three years ago. Here, innovative ideas and inventions for the development of industrial sectors are developed. Cooperation with higher education institutions has been established to train young people in modern professions. Workshops and practical classes are held annually, with the participation of about 15,000 students.

There are increasingly more such innovation centers in Uzbekistan. Industry, energy, and information technology are developing, and new complexes are being launched. These centers need engineers and technicians with modern knowledge and qualifications.

The President was presented with the activities of higher engineering schools created at Tashkent State Technical University, Bukhara Engineering and Technological Institute, Tashkent State Transport University, Fergana Polytechnic Institute, Tashkent University of Architecture and Civil Engineering and Tashkent University of Information Technology.

The Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of February 2, 2024, defines several tasks in this direction. In particular, according to the Resolution, higher education institutions’ organizational and managerial activities that train personnel in the engineering and technical sphere are being improved. Existing curricula are being studied and radically changed in accordance with modern technologies and employer requirements.

The Head of state was informed of this.

In the first stage, higher engineering schools will be opened at ten higher education institutions. The supervisory board of the schools will include not only scientists, but also representatives of partner enterprises.

These schools will implement two-year master’s degree programs. Candidates will be selected based on orders from manufacturers. In the first year, students will design new products based on orders from enterprises, conduct scientific research, and study in advanced modular programs. In the second year, they will test technological processes at enterprises related to creating experimental design samples of new products.

The President paid attention to the issues of practical applicability and effectiveness of scientific research in higher education institutions. It was noted that the attention paid to the education system should find its absolute embodiment in scientific achievements.

The Head of state also familiarized himself with researchers’ inventions and advanced developments. In particular, energy-efficient devices, a cooling system that protects transformers from overheating under load, chemical reagents necessary for the oil and gas industry, modern approaches in construction, including road construction, engineering projects for hydraulic structures, and modern solutions in information technology were presented.
