Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A draft constitutional law on amendments to the Constitution has been published on the Mening konstitutsiyam portal.
On 24 June, the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan considered draft constitutional laws relating to amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, developed by a group of deputies of the Legislative Chamber, as well as the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan on the basis of more than 60 thousand proposals received over the past month by the Constitutional a commission formed by the Joint Resolution of the Kengashes of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted draft constitutional laws in the first reading and merged into a single draft Constitutional Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
The draft Constitutional Law envisages more than 200 amendments to 64 articles of our Basic Law. In addition, 6 new articles are introduced, which introduce 16 new norms.
Most of them, in essence and significance, are aimed at consolidating as a constitutional norm the principles of "man - society - state", "New Uzbekistan - social state", building a humane state, strengthening the protection of human rights and social protection, full ensuring the rights and interests of young people.
Also, the changes are related to the consolidation at the constitutional level of such issues as the organization of high-quality and qualified medical care, the development of education, the guarantee of the inviolability of private property, the status of civil society institutions and environmental protection.
At the same time, the draft law also includes issues of improving the system of state power and administration, including expanding the powers of parliament, improving the institution of the Presidency, separating representative and executive bodies of power in the field, further strengthening the constitutional foundations of socio-economic and political development of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
On 24 June, the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution to submit a draft Constitutional Law for public discussion.
According to the decision of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a nationwide discussion of the draft Constitutional Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan” is held from 25 June to 5 July 2022.
