Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 November, the first freight train within the framework of cross-border e-commerce departed from Kashgar / Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China / to Tashkent, Dunyo news agency reported.
According to the leading Chinese newspaper People’s Daily, the train is expected to arrive in Tashkent in 20 days.
The train is loaded with 50 containers of household goods, auto parts and children’s toys. The total weight of the goods is 1,350 tons, and the value is 78 million RMB (US$12.21 million).
After arriving in Tashkent, the goods will be sent to other countries of Central Asia and Europe, such as Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Poland, the newspaper writes. With the help of such a model of train transportation on the China-Europe routes, the company will significantly reduce the cost of transportation, provide better services to buyers and effectively increase the volume of online transactions.
According to the People’s Daily, after the successful launch of the first train on this route, cross-border e-commerce flights will be operated regularly - twice a month.
As a reminder, on 22 November, a special train with 1,300 tons of Sichuan tea leaves, worth US$4.1 million, left for Uzbekistan from the Chinese province of Sichuan.
