Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chat bot "Health Buddy +" was launched in Uzbekistan. New interactive platform provides timely and reliable information on COVID-19 and vaccines.
Today, UNICEF and WHO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, launched the Health Buddy + chat bot in Uzbekistan to provide timely and reliable information about COVID-19.
“Disinformation is one of the most serious problems in the fight against COVID-19. We expect this tool, which offers access to accurate and verified information, will help users to be informed about COVID-19 and remain immune to myths about the COVID-19 virus and vaccines against it,” said Nurmat Atabekov, Deputy Head of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service, well-being and public health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Developed by the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the UNICEF Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, HealthBuddy + is designed to help countries in the region gain access to the facts about COVID-19 and empower communities to play an active role in reporting rumors and misinformation. This tool is available for all countries in the Europe and Central Asia region in their local languages.
“The launch of Health Buddy + in Uzbekistan is an important milestone that will provide reliable and appropriate resources about the virus and vaccines and improve infodemia management for a successful COVID-19 response,” said Leanne Kuppens, Head of the WHO Country Office in Uzbekistan.
The Health Buddy + chat bot gives users the ability to find answers to their questions. If there is no answer, the expert team will update the application as soon as new information is available on the subject.
“We hope that through the HealthBuddy + community, I will have decision support at my disposal that provides accurate and user-friendly information about COVID-19. Ultimately, it can help communities protect families and children from misinformation about COVID-19 and vaccines during and after the pandemic,” said Munir Mammadzade, Head of UNICEF Uzbekistan.
The chatbot collects information on a variety of topics related to the pandemic, including COVID-19 symptoms, modes of transmission, use of masks, physical distancing, mental health, and vaccine development. The content is constantly updated to reflect new information about the virus and how to fight it.
