During the Sixth plenum of the Central Council of the Party, the decision on nomination of the chairperson of the Central Council of PDPU Hotamjon Ketmanov to the post of the President of Uzbekistan was adopted.

The Central Council also decided to hold the Congress of the party on 14 October 2016 to discuss nomination of Hotamjon Ketmanov to the post of the President of Uzbekistan.

Hotamjon Ketmanov is also head of faction of PDPU at the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan of new convocation and vice-speaker of the lower house of the Uzbek parliament.

Elections of the President of Uzbekistan will be held on 4 December 2016.
