Role of NGOs in law-making discussed in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A roundtable titled “Role and place of NGOs in developing legislation, important state social-economic programmes” was held in Tashkent.
The event was organized by the National Association of NGOs of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population, Independent Institute for monitoring formation of civil society, Ministry of Justice, Public Fund for support of NGOs and other civil society institutes under the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
Representatives of NGOs, MPs of local Council of People’s Deputies, associations, ministries and other organizations attended the event, the pres service of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of Uzbekistan said.
It was underlined that NGOs participated in the discussion of the draft law “On social services for elder people, people with special needs and other categories of people”, which was developed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population.
During the event, the each participants had chance to express opinion on the draft law and contribute to further improvement of the bill. It was noted that adoption of the law will improve social services, rendered to population.
At the event, the participants developed proposals and recommendations on further strengthening role and place in conducting public control and developing draft laws and state programmes.
