Growth of Ferghana region’s GRP makes up 9.4% in 2013

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The growth of the gross regional product (GRP) of Ferghana region in 2013 made up 9.4%, the session of the local MPs said.
The region’s industrial and agriculture production rose by 7.8% each and retail trade turnover – 13.5% in the reporting period.
UzA reported that 458 projects were implemented within the programmes of industrial development in 2013.
The large investment projects were implemented in the region. In particular, Ferghana Cement in Kuvasay expended its capacities on cement production, Humo Toqimachi – production of yarn, Ekoplasttex – polyester yarn, BUR-SAL SHOES- production of footwear, etc.
According to the programme on service development, the region realized 2,170 projects and over 10 enterprises with foreign investments were launched.
Number of small and private enterprises reached 22,051 in Ferghana region and their share in the GRP made up 46.2% in 2013.
The commercial banks allocated 456 billion soums to support small and private businesses in 2013, which helped to create over 75,000 new jobs. Share of small businesses in employment of population reached 77.4%.
About 850 new modern houses on standard projects were commissioned in rural areas of Ferghana region in 2013.
