Uzbekistan Women’s Committee launches new project within EU programme

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan’s Women Committee launched a new project “New programmes of social assistance to expanding opportunities for receiving income for vulnerable families”. The official opening ceremony of the project was held in Tashkent on 30 October.
The project will be implemented in cooperation with Formaper Agency (Italy) within the programme of institutional development and partnership of the European Union.
According to the Uzbekistan Women’s Committee, the sides signed an agreement on implementation of the project in early October 2013.
The project will be implemented within a 22 months and it will cover five regions – Kukcha-Oqtepa mahalla in Tashkent city, Gulzo mahalla in Chirchiq city, Zebuniso in Qibray district of Tashkent region, Boruhov and Furqat mahallas in Syrdarya district of Syrdarya region.
The project is aimed at raising economic prosperity of social vulnerable layers of population in local level and strengthening potential of public organizations in this direction.
The project’s aims are to review situation in places and develop corresponding recommendation on developing entrepreneurship in concrete mahallas, hold training for targeted groups in mahallas, Women’s committee and other public organization to strengthen their potential, develop cooperation of the state and public organizations of Uzbekistan to develop entrepreneurship.
Within the project, it is planned to created information windows to provide information, educational and consulting services for population on entrepreneurship and microcreding in five selected mahallas.
At least 520 unemployed women and youth will undergo entrepreneurship training within the project and at least 120 of them will receive practical help to develop business-plan, open their business and receive soft loans to launch their business.
International partners of the project are Formaper Agency (Milan Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Craft and Agriculture), The Social Innovation Fund (Lithuania), Association “Women for dialogue and education” (Spain).
National partners of the Uzbekistan Women’s Committee are state and public organizations, including Mahalla Foundation, State Tax Committee, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Microcredit Bank, Uzbekistan Businesswomen’s Association “Tadnbirkor ayol”, etc.
