Uzbekistan, Singapore discuss bilateral relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Singapore led by Minister of Prime Minister’s Office, the Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu held negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan on 24 October 2013.
The sides considered current state and perspectives of the Uzbek-Singaporean relations in various areas, proposals on institutilization of relations, exchanged opinion on international and regional issues, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
The officials noted with satisfaction constructive character of interaction within the UN, other international political and financial institutions.
They also considered perspective directions of trade-economic cooperation. Currently, there are 32 enterprises with Singaporean investments in Uzbekistan, which work in such areas as light industry, energy, production of electricity, and foodstuff.
The sides confirmed mutual interest in increasing bilateral trade turnover, investment cooperation, implementation of joint projects with use of advanced technologies.
It was noted that Uzbekistan and Singapore pay great attention to development of cooperation in cultural-humanitarian spheres, including establishing ties among higher education and scientific institutions.
Ambassador of Singapore to Uzbekistan Zulkifli bin Baharuddin participated at the talks.
