Parents, preventing their children to obtain education, to be fined

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan introduced an administrative responsibility for parents or guardians, who create obstacles to children to obtain general secondary and secondary special, as well as professional education.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a law “On introduction of changes and amendments, as well as abolishment of some legislative acts of Uzbekistan”.
Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan passed the law on 31 July 2013 and Senate approved it on 22 August 2013. The law came into force on 8 October 2013.
The law introduced a norm to the Code on administrative responsibility, which envisages responsibility for parents or guardians, who prevent children to obtain education.
The law included and article 47 to the Code on administrative responsibility. According to the article, parents and guardians, who prevent children from obtaining general secondary, secondary special and professional education, will be punished with a fine between five to ten sizes of minimal wage.
