Share of small businesses in Uzbekistan’s GDP makes up 43.2%

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Small entrepreneurs (businesses) produced 43.2% of total volume of the gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan in January-June 2013, which rose 0.6 percentage points year-on-year, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
Share of small enterprises and microfims in the GDP made up 25.9% in January-June 2013 compared to 25.8% in the same period of 2012.
The sector employed 9.372 million people or 75.5% of all employed in economy. Individual sector employed 7.118 million people, small enterprises and microfirms – 2.254 million people.
Number of people employed in private sector of small businesses reached 8.593 million people or 91.7% of total employed in the sector.
The sector produced industrial goods worth 6.532 trillion soums (22.9% of total industrial output of Uzbekistan), which grew by 13.9% year-on-year.
In the reporting period, the small businesses used investments for 3.964 trillion soums (32.8% of total used investments in Uzbekistan). The growth rate made up 4.7% year-on-year.
The sector carried out construction works for 4.46 trillion soums or 70.9% of total construction works in Uzbekistan. The growth rate made up 12%.
The small entrepreneurs increased cargo turnover by automobile by 7% (80.2% in total volume of cargo turnover) and passengers by automobile by 6.8% (87.2% of total passenger turnover).
The sector formed 43.8% of total retail turnover of Uzbekistan, which made up 9.047 trillion soums (+11.9%) and paid services – 40.9% and 3.252 trillion soums (+5.5%).
The small businesses exported products and services for US$1.308 billion (19.2% of total exports of Uzbekistan) and imported products – US$2.595 billion (40.7% in total imports of the country).
