Uzbekistan plans to produce about 1m tonnes of cotton-fibre

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is planning to produce about 1 million tonnes of cotton-fibre in 2013 as in 2012, RIA Novosti reported quoting source at Uzpakhtasanoat, which unites ginneries in Uzbekistan.
According to the report, the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed resolution, which approved the volume of raw cotton production for 2013.
In line with the document, Uzbekistan plans to harvest 3.35 million tonnes of raw cotton in 2013.
Uzbekistan decreased coton-fibre production by 0.6% year-on-year in 2012 to 1.095 million tonnes. The country harvested 3.35 million tonnes of cotton in 2012, which is 4.5% less compared to 2011.
Uzbekistan annually produces about 3.5 million tonnes of raw cotton and 1-1.2 million tonnes of cotton-fibre, of which 60% shipped to exports.
