Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan discuss economic cooperation in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The session of the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan intergovernmental joint commission on cooperation took place in Tashkent on 23 September 2010.
Representatives of ministries and companies related to foreign economic relations, trade, investments, science, IT, tourism, transport and agriculture of both countries participated in the session.
The delegations considered issues of increasing mutual trade and the number of joint ventures in various sectors. They also touched upon issues of cooperation in the banking and finance, small business and other areas.
Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have huge potential to develop trade and economic ties, the members of the commission said. It was said that companies and firms of Uzbekistan are ready to provide large volume of products, including wheat, agriculture equipment, automobiles and trucks, buses, electronics and chemical products, mineral resources and others.
Participants underlined that full implementation of the programme on the Uzbek-Azerbaijani economic cooperation for 2011-2015, which is planned to sign within the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilhom Aliev to Uzbekistan, and action plan will help to expand economic and bilateral trade turnover.
