Population’s deposits at banks reach 2.79 trln. soums in 1H 2011

As of 1 July 2011 the volume of deposits of physical persons - residents in commercial banks of Uzbekistan on local and foreign currencies accounts was 2.791 trillion soums and has increased in comparison with the beginning of the year by 10.9% (273.5 billion soums).
As of 1 July 2011, savings of physical persons on foreign currency accounts in soum equivalent amounted to 523.3 billion soums (18.7% to the total volume of deposits) and have increased by 22.7%.
According to the State Statistics Committee, five commercial banks of Uzbekistan account 70.1% of all population savings. At the same time, 25.4% of population deposits (707.7 billion soums) fell to share of Peopleв’s Bank, 15.5% (433.3 billion soums) to Agrobank and 13.2% (368.2 billion soums) to National Bank of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity (NBU FEA). Share of Asaka Bank and Uzpromstroybank made up 8.6% and 7.4% respectively.
Population of Uzbekistan store main part of their foreign currencies at NBU (21.7% in total volume of hard currencies), Asaka Bank (17.8%), Kapitalbank (17.5%) and Hamkorbank (14.2%).
