Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan is considering a draft law in its second reading, which proposes amendments to several legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The draft law suggests transferring phytosanitary disinfection services to the private sector. This move aims to create a competitive environment for the fumigation of exportable quarantine products, improve the effectiveness of fumigation activities, and introduce methods that minimize environmental impact and protect the fumigated products.

According to the draft law, the procedure for issuing licenses for the fumigation of exportable quarantine products will be established by the Cabinet of Ministers, and licensing authority will be transferred to the Agency for Quarantine and Plant Protection under the Ministry of Agriculture.
